Nollywood’s Fascination With Yoruba Epics Continues with “Kesari (The King)”

The film packs a heavyweight of Nollywood favorites.

The film industry has been on a roll lately with its layout of Yoruba epics. From “Anikulapo” to “Jagun Jagun,” these films have immensely increased the popularity of the Yoruba culture in the national and international markets. More filmmakers are realizing that these stories, overlooked by the mainstream media for over a decade, can be profitable.

 

Not much is known about “Kesari (The King)” just yet, but according to the synopsis shared with the world, Kesari is an “unstoppable” king who wields “unimaginable powers.” He is a “legend” and “ruler” that will be “forever acclaimed” for his mighty works.

 

The film packs a heavyweight of Nollywood favorites in the Yoruba and English fields like Adebayo Salami, Bolaji Ogunmola, Boma, Deyemi Okanlawon, Femi Adebayo, Femi Branch, Ibrahim Yekini, Lateef Adedimeji, Mr. Macaroni, Odunlade Adekola, Yvonne Jegede, and Yinka Quadri.

“Kesari (The King)” is produced by Itele D Icon in conjunction with FilmOne Studios. Ibrahim Yekini and Tope Adebayo serve as the film’s directors.
