Nigerian filmmaker and actor Seyi Akinsola is set to release his latest film, “Ogbedun,”which premieres in cinemas across Nigeria on November 29, 2024.
Directed by Farouk Abisoye, the film tells a compelling story of royal succession and the struggles for power that ensue following the death of a monarch.
The plot centers on Ogbedun, the unrecognized son of the late Oba Agana, who returns to his homeland after years in exile.
His return comes at a tumultuous time when rival families are vying for the throne amid chaos following the unexpected death of a young king. This struggle breeds betrayal, riots, and an intense quest for justice as the town grapples with the power vacuum left behind.
Jide Awobona takes the lead role as Ogbedun, supported by a talented cast that includes Jide Kosoko, Antar Laniyan, Akin Lewis, Seyi Akinsola, Joke Muyiwa, Miriam Peters, and Babaseun Faseru.
Seyi Akinsola, who serves as the film’s executive producer through his production company, Astrocraft Productions, emphasizes the film’s central theme: “Ogbedun reflects a core principle I live by, that no matter how many people support wrongdoing, no matter how well-placed those people are, good will always prevail, even when victory seems improbable.”
Distributed by Tribe Nation Theatrical Distribution Limited known for successfully releasing Nollywood blockbusters like Force Empire and Trepidation, “Ogbedun” is set to reach a wide audience.
