Okey Oku’s much-anticipated thriller “Blackout” is gearing up for its theatrical release on February 21, 2025. The film, produced by Nile Entertainment and Oracle Films, promises to deliver an intense cinematic experience for Nollywood audiences.
Ahead of its nationwide release, “Blackout” will host an exclusive premiere on February 16 in Enugu, the hometown of its director, Okechukwu Oku. Affectionately known as “Okey Oku,” the filmmaker invited his local community to celebrate the occasion with a heartfelt message in Igbo on social media. Translated into English, he wrote: “My People, please let us come together for the exclusive premiering of our movie, “Blackout”. It will be happening in Enugu, come February 16, 2025. It is our own.”
The film stars Padita Agu and Gideon Okeke in leading roles, supported by Blossom Chukwujekwu, Nelson Iwu, and Mike Uchegbu.
The story blends themes of passion, deception, and survival into a thrilling narrative, setting the tone for a high-stakes drama.
A teaser released on January 10 gave audiences a glimpse of the tension, showing a heated confrontation between Agu and Okeke’s characters that escalates into violence.
Director Okey Oku, renowned for films like “American Driver” (2017) and “Levi” (2019), brings his expertise as a cinematographer and music video director to the project. His distinct visual style raises expectations that “Blackout” will be a standout Nollywood production.
Adding to the film’s appeal is its original Nollywood soundtrack, composed by David Onka, with contributions from artists Onyebeat, SWAFT, and ZURU.O.
