Nollywood actress Bukky Wright is set to reprise her role as Omotara Johnson in the upcoming sequel The Return of Omotara Johnson, scheduled for release in cinemas on July 10.
The film follows Omotara Johnson, who has built a quiet life around her son years after leaving behind her criminal past. However, her past resurfaces when her son is accused of murder, forcing her back into a world shaped by betrayal, hidden secrets and old enemies.

Directed by Adeoluwa Owu, known for Owambe Thieves (2025) and Iwe Ala (2026), the film features an ensemble cast including Timini Egbuson, Shaffy Bello, Nse Ikpe-Etim, Ali Nuhu, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Tomi Ojo, Chidi Mokeme, Lilian Esoro, Uzee Usman and Chidinma Ugwu.
The screenplay is written by Abdul Tijani-Ahmed. The project also marks another major screen return for Wright following her recent appearances in Red Circle (2025) and Something About the Briggs (2025).
As it prepares for release, The Return of Omotara Johnson joins a growing list of Nollywood sequel projects built around established characters, including Funke Akindele’s Everybody Loves Jenifa and Iyabo Ojo’s Labake Olododo: The Warrior Lord.
The film will be distributed by Nile Entertainment.
