Mercy Johnson makes her glorious return to the big screen since the 2021 A Naija Christmas, in the Dimeji Ajibola-directed film Passport. The VSL Media production was first teased by promotional pictures in February, before the trailer and other promotional pictures dropped in July and August. The production company promised Nigerians that the movie “go Choke” and even though that bold assertion is yet to be seen, it is not unfounded considering the last film VSL produced, The Wildflower, made an impressive #40 million in the box office.
The film centers around how the lives of two contrasting individuals – one an omo ghetto and the other a trust fund baby – are intertwined when they are forced to work together for the sake of the retrieval of the latter’s stolen passport.
Principal photography wrapped up in February and starring alongside leads Mercy Johnson and Jim Iyke are Zubby Michael, Adedimeji Lateef, Lina Idoko, Babajide Kosoko, NasBoi Nasiru, Caroline Igben, Emem Ufot, and Tunbosun Aiyedehin.
