The Covenant, a thriller series directed by the late Dimeji Ajibola, premieres on Netflix in Africa and Kava TV internationally on December 12, 2025.
The series follows a family thrown into chaos when a brother is kidnapped. As they search for answers, they must navigate dangerous forces and uncover hidden secrets that threaten their survival and pursuit of justice.
The cast includes Gideon Okeke, Sola Sobowale, Zubby Michael, Segun Arinze, Ivie Okujaye, Uzee Usman, Bimbo Manuel, Chioma Okafor, Walter Anga, and Joseph Momodu. Cinematography is handled by Peter Moloto.
Ajibola, who passed away earlier this year, was known for his work in Nigerian cinema. The Covenant represents one of his final directorial projects, bringing together an ensemble cast of Nollywood veterans and familiar faces across multiple generations.
The series marks another addition to Netflix’s growing library of African original content. The dual release strategy, with Netflix handling African distribution and Kava TV taking international markets, reflects the global reach of Nigerian storytelling.
Kidnapping remains a pressing social issue in Nigeria, and The Covenant uses the premise to explore family dynamics under extreme pressure.
