Fans of the “Lord of the Rings” franchise are kicking off the holiday season with the anime-inspired feature, “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.” The film will be released in cinemas worldwide on Dec. 13.
The film takes fans back to Middle-earth, exploring the life of Helm Hammerhand, the legendary King of Rohan.
Set 183 years before the events of the “Long of the Rings” trilogy, it will explore how Hammerhand and his family fought hard to defend their fortress against Wulf-the ruthless leader of the Dunlendings who seeks revenge for the murder of his father. Hera, Hammerhand’s daughter, takes the reigns of defense and leads the people in the desperate fight for survival.
“The War of the Rohirrim” is directed by Japanese filmmaker Kenji Kamiyama with a story written by Jeffrey Addiss, Will Matthews, and Philippa Boyens. Boyens is famously known for writing the screenplay for the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy and “The Hobbit” franchise.
The film features an ensemble voice cast led by seasoned actor Brian Cox as Hammerhand and Gaia Wise as Hera. Luke Pasqualino and Miranda Otto round up the cast.
Fans of the “Lord of the Rings” universe, anime Otakus, and newcomers can expect to be enthralled by this gripping tale of power, vengeance, and resilience.
