To Adaego With Love, Nwamaka Chikezie’s upcoming Nollywood drama, stars Adam Garba and Chisom Agoawuike in a historical romance set to open in Nigerian cinemas on February 6, 2026.
Set in 1975, the film follows a soldier and a schoolteacher from opposing cultural backgrounds who fall in love in a country still recovering from the Nigerian Civil War. Their relationship is tested by tribal rivalry, societal divisions, and family traditions as they attempt to navigate the tensions of the post-war period.
Exploring themes of love, loss, identity, history, and reconciliation, the film also features performances from Bob-Manuel Udokwu, Chioma Chukwuka, Riyo David, Demi Banwo, Tonia Chukwurah, Six Foot Plus, and the late Onyeka Onwenu.

Ahead of its theatrical release, the film premiered at the 2025 Africa International Film Festival, where it won Best Feature Film and Best Screenplay. The project also marks Onyeka Onwenu’s final screen appearance.
The film was written and produced by Brendan Ogbuka-Garuba in collaboration with Tade Production House and Ziva Works Productions. Cinematography was handled by Ilobuka Ifeanyi Victor.
Like other Nigerian historical dramas such as Kunle Afolayan’s October 1 and Izu Ojukwu’s ’76, To Adaego With Love engages with themes of politics and tribal division in the aftermath of the civil war, using romance as a lens to examine unity and resilience.
To Adaego With Love premieres on February 6 across cinemas in Nigeria.
