Tyler Perry is returning to his Why Did I Get Married? franchise with Why Did I Get Married Again?, the third installment in the comedy-drama series, set to premiere globally on Netflix on September 9, 2026.
The film centers on a reunion for the destination wedding of Marcus and Angela’s daughter. The gathering brings past and present relationship issues to the surface as the couples reflect on how their marriages have changed over the years and reconsider the question at the heart of the franchise: “Why did I get married again?”
Perry returns as a writer, director, actor, and producer on the project. Taraji P. Henson joins the franchise for the first time, while returning cast members include Tasha Smith, Jill Scott, Sharon Leal, Richard T. Jones, Michael Jai White, and Lamman Rucker.

Why Did I Get Married Again? follows Why Did I Get Married?, which premiered in 2007, and Why Did I Get Married Too?, released in 2010. The third installment arrives 19 years after the original film and 16 years after its sequel.
The project marks Perry’s latest creative collaboration with Netflix, following a series of film and television projects made for the streaming platform.
