If Nollywood had an official “celebrity couple” handbook, Banky W and Adesua Etomi-Wellington would be somewhere between the cover page and chapter one. They are essentially the Nigerian version of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. And since their The Wedding Party era, they’ve worn that badge quite comfortably.
But the union came to be in a way almost alien to modern courtship.
Chatting to Teju-Babyface, Banky W revealed that he was friendzoned during their earlier get-to-knows.
“Adesua was actually the one who asked me to be her husband. She kept me in the friend zone for a long time, so I stopped pushing and simply prayed to God to touch her heart.”
That was, until Adesuwa decided not to follow the script. “After a year and a few months, she finally called me ‘my husband’, and that’s it”, he said.
We’ve seen this story before, but with a different ending: a one-sided pursuit that ends up being so. But Adesuwa wouldn’t take reclusion for an answer.
So, dear women, take a note or two: sometimes the soft life includes soft initiative.
