In a recent podcast appearance on “Duke Rants,” Nigerian actress and model, Kehinde Bankole, faced a question that would make many actors pause: How far is she willing to go in her craft? Specifically, would she ever consider doing a nude scene?
The thirty-eight-year-old’s response was as intelligent as it was succinct—she’ll do what is artistically required.
“I’ll go as far as intelligently required, not just as far as required.”
This thoughtful and measured response is unsurprising for a woman known for her poised and aristocratic roles in Nollywood.
According to her, nudity isn’t always portrayed to invoke sensuality. She referenced a powerful scene from Lupita Nyong’o’s “12 Years a Slave” to drive home her point. In the scene, Nyong’o’s character is stripped and whipped, and the emotions it evokes are not of allure but of deep compassion and anger. “It’s all about context,” Kehinde emphasized.
The “Super Story” actress also discussed the underpinnings of her most recent movie, “Offshoot,” as well as her humble beginnings in the Nigerian movie industry.
