The recent Liquefied Petroleum Gas price increase (by 30% or more in some localities) has triggered a nationwide shortage of the commodity. The long queues at outlets as they run out of stock has obviously drawn outrage from everyone, including Nollywood stars like Kate Henshaw.
“What is this??!!!!! Like, what really is this??!! It’s now cooking gas we are queuing for? Like seriously?!,” she fumed to her 1.2 million followers on X.
Of course, she was met with concurrence in the comments section, although the intense political debate that spurred therein didn’t end well for one user unfortunate enough to cross Aunty Kate’s red path.
Just a day later, she appeared on Channels TV’s “Political Paradigm”, where she doubled down on her criticism, this time targeting government transparency and tax management.
“You’re not even showing the working of what you’re doing with the taxes,” she said pointedly, calling for accountability amid Nigeria’s rising living costs.
If precedent is any guide, Henshaw won’t rest until some positive light arises at the tunnel’s end.
