Appearing on Cocktails & Takeaways on YouTube, Odumodublvck made a rather surprising statement about the “GOATs” of Afrobeats:
“What Tems and Ayra Starr have done is bigger than anything Wizkid, Burna, and Fela have done.”
Naturally, these lines rattled fans of the latter three. But it wasn’t necessarily the statement itself that broke the internet; after all, Odumodu has a point in saying that these female icons have had to navigate the uphill battle that comes with being women in the music industry.
It’s his tagging of womanhood as “the hardest job in the world” that has sparked an underground gender war.
One group of fans agrees that these women overcame significant challenges in their rise to fame but disagrees with the claim that womanhood is the most difficult aspect of life. Another faction rejects both claims outright, while a third supports both positions.
Thus, just like Buju a fortnight ago, Odumodu has found himself in the crosshairs of a gender war in the comments section.
