When Zlatan Ibile launched his new “ZTTW” fashion store in Lekki, he undoubtedly envisioned grandeur – like Burna Boy, Ruger, Yhemo Lee, Mercy Eke and other top celebrities in attendance – the opulence and, of course, booming sales.
On the list of things he wouldn’t have foreseen was his products and label becoming the latest headliners in Aba’s bustling counterfeit market.
Well, unfortunately for him, that’s what is reportedly happening.
Viral pictures on social media purportedly show jerseys and other clothing with “ZTTW” tags being sold in Aba, a city in Abia state of South-Eastern Nigeria.
Although famous for producing affordable clothing, Aba’s infamy for remixing designer wears, the most recent of which is ZTTW, might make the reported N237 billion investment of Zlatan’s store a “bit” challenging to recoup.
Well-minded individuals wish Zlatan success in his new venture and “side hustle.” But one cannot help but quip at the thought of traders somewhere in Aba, meticulously planning their next ZTTW counterfeiting move.
And we reckon that Zlatan wouldn’t be too happy about his designs popping up in random stalls in Aba.
