The Afrobeats singer’s latest album becomes his strongest debut to date.
Adekunle Gold’s “Fuji” Opens Strong With Over One Million Spotify Streams
Afrobeats star Adekunle Gold has hit a new streaming milestone as his sixth studio album, Fuji, amassed 1.05 million streams on Spotify globally within the first 24 hours of its release.
Released on October 3, 2025, the album’s opening-day performance stands out as one of Gold’s strongest to date, surpassing the coveted one-million-stream benchmark. In Nigeria alone, Fuji recorded approximately 720,000 streams, underscoring the singer’s enduring popularity in his home country.
Prior to Fuji, Adekunle Gold dropped the party anthem Coco Money, which has earned over three million streams on Spotify, and Bobo featuring Lojay and Shoday, which has now crossed the one-million-stream mark.
With such an impressive start, Fuji is projected to hit four million streams by the end of its first week. If achieved, this would place the project alongside Gold’s most successful albums, including Afro Pop, Vol. 1 which boasts over 228 million total streams and Catch Me If You Can which has surpassed 150 million streams.
Fuji features a mix of Nigerian and international collaborators such as Davido, Mavo, Robert Glasper, Soweto Gospel Choir, and 6lack. The fifteen-track album blends Adekunle Gold’s signature Afrobeats sound with rich elements of pop, world music, fuji, and Africana influences—showcasing his versatility and evolution as an artiste.
