Afrobeats sensation Rema is set to release his third single of the year, “Kelebu,” on August 1, 2025.
The announcement was made via social media, where the artiste shared a one-minute teaser video featuring himself “raving” to the track while women play trumpets in the background.
In the Instagram caption accompanying the teaser, Rema invited fans to create a simple dance for the upcoming single, offering a $10,000 prize for the best routine.
From early impressions, “Kelebu” appears to stay true to Rema’s Afro-rave roots—a sound he has helped shape into a global movement. The track carries sonic similarities to earlier releases like “MARCH AM” and “OZEBA” from his Grammy-nominated album “HEIS.”
Fan reactions to the snippet have been mixed. While many core listeners are excited for new music—his last release, “Bout U,” dropped in April—some have expressed hesitation due to the single’s unconventional instrumentals and more aggressive tone. The shift has sparked speculation that Rema may be evolving his sound from Afro-rave into a new subgenre some are calling Afro-rage.
Still, the artiste seems committed to making this summer a dance-filled one, just as he promised. With “Kelebu” on the horizon, Rema may be poised to deliver yet another standout hit.
