Tems Wins Best African Music Performance at 2025 Grammy Awards

Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has won the Best African Music Performance category at the 67th Grammy Awards.
Her song “Love Me JeJe” earned her the award, surpassing “Tomorrow” by Yemi Alade, “MMS” by Asake featuring Wizkid, “Sensational” by Chris Brown featuring Davido and Lojay, and Higher by Burna Boy.
This marks Tems’ second Grammy win, further solidifying her position in the global music industry. South African singer Tyla won the same category in its inaugural edition in 2024 with her hit song “Water”.

Tems received three nominations at this year’s Grammy Awards, bringing her career total to eight. She was also nominated for Best Global Music Album for “Born in the Wild” and Best R&B Song for “Burning”.
The 67th Grammy Awards took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday. The event saw several Nigerian artists among the nominees, with the Best African Music Performance category featuring strong competition from the country’s leading talents.
