The 2026 Golden Globe Awards was held on the night of January 11, 2026, honouring the projects that made an impact in 2025. Hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser for the second consecutive year, the ceremony handed out awards across 28 categories, spanning both film and television.
As one of Hollywood’s most influential award shows, and a key indicator of what may follow at the Academy Awards, this year’s Golden Globes marked one of the most compelling awards seasons in recent memory.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another dominated the film categories, emerging as the night’s biggest winner with four awards. The film won Best Motion Picture–Musical or Comedy, while Anderson picked up Best Director and Best Screenplay, marking his first-ever Golden Globe wins. Teyana Taylor also secured Best Supporting Female Actor in a Motion Picture, earning her first nomination and first win at the Globes. The victory further cements the actress and Grammy-nominated singer’s growing reputation for choosing complex, emotionally resonant roles.
Netflix’s global hit KPop Demon Hunters continued its international dominance with two awards, winning Best Motion Picture, Animated and Best Original Song for the Billboard No. 1 hit “Golden.” Also taking home two trophies were Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet and Brazil’s film festival favourite The Secret Agent, which has already been shortlisted for the Academy Award for International Feature Film. Lead actor Wagner Moura made history by becoming the first Brazilian actor to win Best Male Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama.
Ryan Coogler’s Sinners also enjoyed a strong night, winning the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement Award as well as Best Original Score for composer Ludwig Göransson.
Other notable winners included Timothée Chalamet, who continued his awards-season momentum by winning Best Male Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy for Marty Supreme, further solidifying his position as a frontrunner in the Oscars race. Rose Byrne earned Best Female Actor in a Motion Picture,Musical or Comedy for her acclaimed performance in A24’s If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. Veteran actor Stellan Skarsgård triumphed in one of the night’s most competitive categories, winning Best Supporting Male Actor in a Motion Picture for Sentimental Value over nominees Adam Sandler, Sean Penn, Jacob Elordi, Benicio del Toro and Paul Mescal.
On the television side, Netflix’s hit limited series Adolescence matched One Battle After Another’s tally with four wins, including Best Limited Series, Best Male Actor in a Limited Series for Stephen Graham, Best Supporting Female Actor on Television for Erin Doherty, and Best Supporting Male Actor on Television for Owen Cooper. At just 16 years old, Cooper has now collected an Emmy, Critics Choice Award and Golden Globe, making him the youngest actor to achieve the feat.
HBO Max’s medical drama The Pitt also had a standout night, winning Best Television Series, Drama and Best Male Actor in a Television Series,Drama for Noah Wyle. The series has now swept the category across the Emmys, Critics Choice Awards and Golden Globes this season.
Apple TV+ comedy The Studio secured two awards, with Seth Rogen winning Best Male Actor in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy, alongside a win for Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy as one of the show’s creators. The series has dominated the comedy category this awards season and has already been renewed for a second season.
The inaugural Best Podcast award was presented to Amy Poehler for Good Hang with Amy Poehler.
