Four films have been selected by the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) to pitch at the Marché du Film’s Goes to Cannes program on May 16, 2026, at the Pavillion 1 in Cannes.

The standout works-in-progress selected include Emil Garuba’s “Ashawo,” Obi Emelonye’s “Achalugo,” Hakym Reagan’s “Insight,” and Stephané Alexandra’s “Love Lanre.”

The pitch session will see these filmmakers present their feature films currently in post-production to an international audience of sales agents, distributors, and festival programmers.

In a statement, the AFRIFF team described the selection as a defining moment for African cinema, saying the festival is proud to take “filmmakers from Lagos to Cannes, from Africa to the global stage,” adding that the showcase is about placing Nigerian and African storytelling at the center of global conversations.
