After spending several weeks on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart, Chris Brown’s “Sensational” has finally broken into the Billboard Hot 100 chart, earning featured Nigerian Afrobeat artists, Davido and Lojay their first entry into the charts. The four-minute track, one of the lead singles off Chris Brown’s latest album, “11:11” currently sits on the 96th spot.

“Sensational” marks the fifth collaboration between Davido and Chris Brown following 2019’s “Blow My Mind” and “Lower Body”; 2021’s “Shopping Spree,” featuring Young Thug, and 2022’s “Nobody Has to Know.”

Sensational

Davido’s entry into the Hot 100 aligns with his recent success at the O2 Arena–part of his ‘Timeless” concert tour–his anticipated April performance at Madison Square Garden, and three Grammy nominations for Best Global Music Performance, Best African Music Performance, and Best Global Music Album.

As one of the most successful Afrobeats artists of all time, Davido is no stranger to Billboard success. His latest album “Timeless” (2023) clinched the 37th spot on the Billboard 200. The stats become even more impressive at the Billboard U.S Afrobeats Songs chart, where the Osun-state-born musician has imputed 25 songs–the fourth highest among all artists since the chart’s inception in 2022.

Additionally, on the World Digital Song Sales chart, Davido stands out with 27 charted songs, 18 of which are top 10 hits, trailing only behind Wizkid among Afrobeats artists.

Lojay

Lojay, on the other hand, has marked his presence on Billboard with four tracks. “Monalisa” remix with Davido and Sarz was his first on Rhythmic Airplay, followed by “Arizona” and “Moto” which reached the 44th and 48th position on the Billboard U.S Afrobeats Songs chart, respectively. French Montana, Swae Lee, and Jess Glyne’s “Wish U Well,” capped it upon ranking 37th on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay in October.

This Hot 100 achievement places Davido and Lojay among other notable Nigerian artists who have made their mark on the chart, including Burna Boy and Tems with five entries each, Wizkid with four, and Rema, Fireboy, and CKay, each with one entry.
