Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has reportedly died, according to claims circulating on social media, as tributes from colleagues and fans continue to surface online.
Some reports also claimed that talent manager and filmmaker Sam Olatunji confirmed the news in posts circulating online. However, no official statement had been released by his family or management at the time of filing.
Following the reports, tributes began circulating across social media platforms.
Actress Funke Akindele wrote on her Instagram story: “Hmmmmmm. Rest in peace, Alex. I tried to reach out to see you one more time but I guess you knew best. May your kind soul rest in peace, Alex. ‘Ore mi’… I will always remember and cherish the good times we shared.”
Actor Bolanle Ninalowo wrote: “Rest on, Alex. May God heal your family and us all.”
Singer Peter Okoye also reacted with a brief post: “RIP.”
Veteran actor RMD wrote: “Life is not only fickle, it can also feel unreal… Rest in peace to a truly great soul.”
Actress Kate Henshaw added: “I just heard a terrible news. Father Lord pleaseeeee.”
Ekubo rose to prominence after finishing as first runner-up at the 2010 Mr Nigeria contest. He went on to build a Nollywood career featuring in films such as Omo Ghetto: The Saga, Weekend Getaway, Catch.er, Zero Hour and The First Lady.
