Biodun Stephen’s anticipated film “Atiko” has been announced as the first movie to premiere on Circuits, a newly launched Pan-African premium video-on-demand (PVOD) platform dedicated to showcasing authentic African stories.
The drama film tells a heartfelt story of unwavering determination and resilience, following two struggling mothers who refuse to give up on their children, despite facing overwhelming challenges.
Directed by Biodun Stephen, “Atiko” premiered earlier this year on May 2, 2024, at the NollywoodWeek Film Festival in Paris. The film opened to a captivated audience at Cinema L’Arlequin, drawing praise for its emotional depth and compelling narrative.
Circuits promises to distinguish itself in the competitive PVOD landscape by offering exclusive African content through a pay-per-view model. The platform, accessible on all internet-enabled devices, will host between five and ten curated premieres monthly, with each film available for a 12-week viewing window.
Chioma Onyenwe, Vice President of Circuits and founder of Raconteur Productions, emphasized the platform’s mission to elevate African storytelling for global audiences. “We aim to build a resilient bridge between the continent’s vibrant film industry and global audiences who cherish our stories and films,” she said.
In addition to providing premium content, Circuits is focused on protecting filmmakers’ intellectual property and fostering a sustainable creator economy. The platform will collaborate with African producers to deliver a wide variety of content while ensuring seamless multi-device synchronization for viewers.
With “Atiko” leading its debut, Circuits sets the stage for a reimagined cinematic experience tailored for audiences seeking authentic African narratives.
