Popular Nigerian singer and songwriter Ayo Maff has recorded an original Afrobeats song for Aloma, the upcoming feature film by veteran filmmaker Chris Ihidero. The project also marks Ayo Maff’s acting debut.
The announcement was made at NECLive 2025, where Ihidero spoke about working with the artist and the creative process behind the song. According to the filmmaker, the track was developed specifically for the film and was designed to support its emotional tone and storytelling.
Ihidero noted that Ayo Maff brought strong energy and versatility to the project, both musically and on set. He described the collaboration as one that added an extra layer to the film’s narrative through sound and performance.
For Ayo Maff, the film represents an opportunity to explore a long-standing interest in acting. The singer has said the experience allowed him to combine music with performance, describing it as a personal milestone. Known for songs such as Dealer, Are You There, and 7 Days, the artist has steadily built a following within the Afrobeats space.
Aloma is the debut feature film from Ihidero and is produced by PinPoint Productions. The film features an ensemble cast that includes Shawn Faqua, Folu Storms, Asa’ah Samuel, Kalu Ikeagwu, Segun Arinze, Tina Mba, Olakunle ‘Abounce’ Fawole, Princess Obuseh, Abolaji Ajibade, Keppy Ekpeyong, Juliet Ibrahim, Elvina Ibru, Jessica Blessing Obasi, Kamo State, Jaiye Kuti, and others.
