The upcoming film “Adanne,” directed by Dabby Chimere, has announced its star-studded cast, which includes popular figures from the entertainment industry.
The film will feature Big Brother Africa alumni Lilian Afegbai in the lead role, with additional roles filled by Big Brother Naija’s Tacha Akinde (Simply Tacha), Shaffy Bello, Ik Ogbonna, and Alex Ekubo. The film aims to tackle the hidden and often uncomfortable stories that exist within family relationships.

Written by Francis Uzoma Disney, “Adanne” tells the poignant story of two sisters, Adanne and Ijeoma. The narrative unfolds as Adanne makes a significant sacrifice for her sister Ijeoma’s success. However, as soon as Ijeoma marries a wealthy man, she abandons Adanne, forcing her to resort to stripping to make ends meet. This emotionally charged plot explores themes of sacrifice, betrayal, and the enduring nature of familial bonds.
Dabby Chimere took to Instagram to express her excitement about the project and the talented cast involved. “This gripping tale of unconditional love, devastating betrayal, and loyalty will keep you on the edge of your seat. We will see if a sister’s bond can survive the test of time,” Chimere wrote, highlighting the film’s focus on familial love and sisterhood.

Chimere also extended her gratitude to the cast and crew, stating, “Thankful for the opportunity to tell this amazing story with these beautiful TALENTS. I believe in me. Believe in yourself too. God is Able.”
Dabby Chimere gained prominence for her directorial work on the feature film “Head Over Bills,” which premiered on February 4, 2024, on Prime Video. Chimere’s directorial skills have been recognized, as both “Head Over Bills” and another of her films, “Rush Hour,” were featured on Prime Video’s Top 10 Movies in Nigeria List shortly after their releases.
