Grammy Award-winning Nigerian superstar Burna Boy has been confirmed as one of the headline performers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final halftime show, scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

FIFA announced the entertainment lineup on Monday, revealing Burna Boy alongside Shakira, Madonna, Justin Bieber and BTS. The diverse lineup reflects the tournament’s global appeal, bringing together Afrobeats, Latin pop, K-pop and mainstream pop on football’s biggest stage.

The halftime show is being curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin in partnership with Global Citizen and will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative aimed at expanding access to quality education and football opportunities for children worldwide.

Announcing the performers on Instagram, FIFA president Gianni Infantino said the event seeks to harness football’s global reach to drive educational impact.

When it comes to what the world needs, there is nothing more important than education,” Infantino wrote. “We are proud to have Justin Bieber joining Madonna, Shakira, BTS and Burna Boy to co-headline the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final halftime show in support of the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.”

The announcement marks another milestone in Burna Boy’s international career. Earlier in the tournament, he featured on the official FIFA World Cup anthem, Dai Dai, alongside Shakira. The song recently became the first official FIFA World Cup anthem to top the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart since the ranking launched in 2020 and has remained at No. 1 for a second consecutive week.

Burna Boy and Shakira also performed Dai Dai during the tournament’s opening ceremony on June 11 at Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca before more than 80,000 spectators, delivering one of the event’s standout musical performances.

Over the past few years, Burna Boy has cemented his place among the world’s leading music stars through sold-out stadium concerts, chart-topping releases and headline appearances at major international festivals. His inclusion in the World Cup Final halftime show further highlights the growing influence of Afrobeats on the global stage.

Expected to draw hundreds of millions of viewers worldwide, the FIFA World Cup Final halftime show is among the most-watched live entertainment events. For Burna Boy, the performance represents another landmark moment in a career that continues to take African music to some of the world’s biggest platforms.
