Burna Boy’s acclaimed 2023 album “I Told Them…” shows no signs of slowing down, recently surpassing 400 million streams on Spotify. This milestone makes the Nigerian Afro-fusion star the first African artist to amass over 400 million streams on three separate album projects.

Released in August 2023, “I Told Them…” has emerged as not only Burna Boy’s most streamed album of the year so far, but the most streamed new African album release across all of 2023 on Spotify. The LP’s breakout track “City Boys” recently became his 11th most streamed song ever at 126 million streams.

Beyond its commercial performance, “I Told Them…” is also setting live entertainment records. Burna Boy’s supporting concert tour made history as the highest-attended and top-grossing show by an African artist at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena. The March 17th  performance sold 13,331 tickets for a $1.39 million gross, outpacing his previous “Love, Damini” tour figures at the same venue.

The album’s streaming success comes on the heels of Burna winning the “Most Fashionable Man” honor at the 2024 Fabys awards, adding to his growing list of accolades.

With “I Told Them…,” Burna Boy has now joined elite company as just the third artist from Africa to earn three 400 million-plus streaming projects on Spotify. His previous studio LPs “African Giant” (2019) and “Love, Damini” (2022) had already surpassed that rarified milestone.

The gamechanger album continues to raise Burna Boy’s international profile and cements his standing as one of the continent’s most globally recognized musical exports of the last decade. Its streaming dominance shows no signs of slowing as 2024 progresses.
