Cameron Diaz is making a long-awaited return to the big screen. The Hollywood star, known for her roles in iconic ’90s films, has ended her acting hiatus to star in the upcoming action-comedy “Back in Action,” directed by Seth Gordon.
The film is set to premiere on Netflix on January 17, 2025.
The movie revolves around former CIA spies forced back into the field after their identities are compromised. Alongside Diaz, the film features a star-studded cast, including Jamie Foxx, Kyle Chandler, Andrew Scott, Glenn Close, and Jamie Demetriou.
“Back in Action” marks a reunion for Diaz and Foxx, who previously worked together in “Any Given Sunday” (1999) and the remake of “Annie” (2014).
Seth Gordon, known for his work on “Horrible Bosses,” “Identity Thief,” and “Baywatch,” takes on the roles of writer, director, and producer for this high-stakes action thriller.
Diaz rose to fame in the 1990s with standout performances in romantic comedies such as “The Mask,” “My Best Friend’s Wedding,” and “There’s Something About Mary,” solidifying her place as one of Hollywood’s most bankable stars. Her films have grossed over $3 billion at the U.S. box office.
After stepping away from acting in 2014 to focus on her family, Diaz’s last major role was as Miss Hannigan in the 2014 film “Annie.” Her return to the industry is highly anticipated by fans and marks a significant moment in her career.
“Back in Action” was initially slated for a November 2024 release but has been rescheduled to January 2025, promising a fresh start to the new year with Diaz’s exciting comeback.
