Devil Wears Prada 2 has soared past the $200 million mark worldwide, cementing its place as one of 2026’s biggest box office productions.

The 20th Century comedydrama sequel opened to $77 million domestically and $233 million globally, outperforming last year’s Marvel Studios summer kick-off Thunderbolts, which debuted to $74.3 million domestically and $160 million worldwide.

With generally positive reviews and strong audience turnout, the film has now grossed $234 million against a $100 million production budget, ranking as the second biggest opening of the year as far as well as the seventh highestgrossing release of 2026.

The sequel, directed by David Frankel and written by Aline Brosh McKenna, reunites Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, while adding Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Simone Ashley, and Kenneth Branagh to the ensemble.

Promotional partners including fashion powerhouses like L’Oréal, Dior have amplified the film’s reach, while Lady Gaga and Doechii’s single “Runway,” featured in the movie, has already drawn millions of views online.

The sequel which explores shifting power dynamics and the challenges of fashion media in the age of social media and corporate cutbacks, picks up nearly two decades after the original, following Andy Sachs’ return to Runway magazine as Miranda Priestly struggles to keep the publication relevant in a digital-first world.

The original Devil Wears Prada in 2006 grossed $326.5 million worldwide and earned Oscar nominations for Best Actress (Meryl Streep) and Costume Design (Patricia Field). With Devil Wears Prada 2, based on its strong opening and cultural buzz, the sequel is wellpositioned to continue its box office momentum, even surpassing the original.
