Genevieve Nnaji has joined the cast of Wahala, the BBC adaptation of the bestselling novel by Nikki May.
The series marks her return to on-screen acting following a multi-year hiatus, with her last appearance in the 2018 film Lionheart, which she also directed.
The production features an ensemble cast including Adelayo Adedayo, Cush Jumbo, Deborah Ayorinde and Susan Wokoma.
Set in contemporary London, Wahala follows three close friends ; Simi (Adedayo), Boo (Jumbo) and Ronke (Wokoma) whose friendship is tested by the arrival of Isobel (Ayorinde), a wealthy new acquaintance whose presence disrupts their lives.
The series is produced by Firebird Pictures, with BBC Studios handling global distribution. It is directed by Theresa Ikoko, who also serves as executive producer, alongside Leonora Lonsdale and Remi Weekes.
The adaptation is based on Nikki May’s novel of the same name and is currently in production.
