Jurassic World: Rebirth stormed into cinemas with a massive global debut, taking full advantage of its July 4 U.S. Independence Day release to attract audiences and deliver the biggest box office opening of 2025 so far.
Initial projections had forecast an opening between $120–130 million domestically. However, according to Variety, the seventh installment in the Jurassic Park franchise exceeded expectations, grossing $91.5 million over its first three days in North America and $147.3 million over the full five-day holiday frame.
This makes Jurassic World: Rebirth the ninth film this year to cross the $100 million mark in North America (U.S. and Canada combined). It also breaks the record for the biggest Independence Day weekend opening in box office history, surpassing 2022’s Minions: The Rise of Gru, which debuted with $123.1 million.
Within the franchise, Rebirth overtakes Jurassic World: Dominion ($145.1 million) as the second-biggest debut, though it still trails the original Jurassic World (2015), which opened to $208 million.
Internationally, the film earned $171 million across more than 80 markets, bringing its global opening weekend total to $318 million. With this, it surpasses Minecraft: The Movie ($313.7 million) and Lilo & Stitch ($307 million) to claim the title of the highest global opening of the year.
Jurassic World: Rebirth features a star-studded cast including Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Ed Skrein. The film was produced on a reported budget of $180 million.
