Kugali Media Releases Disney’s Official Trailer For Futuristic Nigerian Animation “Iwájú”

The limited animation series “Iwájú,” born from the collaboration between Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pan-African comic book entertainment company Kugali, has treated fans to an exciting reveal with the release of its official trailer.

 

The series, set to premiere exclusively on Disney plus on Feb. 28, 2024, promises a futuristic and visually captivating journey through the animated streets of Lagos, Nigeria.

 

Directed by Olufikayo Ziki Adeola and produced by Christina Chen, “Iwájú” unfolds in a futuristic Lagos, displaying technological advancements and innovation that breathe life into the animated landscapes.

 

The official trailer introduces the main characters, Tola, a young girl from the affluent Eko Atlantic Island, and Kole, a self-taught tech expert navigating the challenges of the mainland slums. Together, they embark on a journey that unravels the secrets and dangers concealed within their contrasting worlds.

 

The success of “Iwájú” can be attributed to a stellar team of creatives, including director Olufikayo Ziki Adeola, who co-wrote the screenplay with Halima Hudson. Hamid Ibrahim, co-founder of Kugali, served as the production designer, contributing to the series’ distinctive look and feel. Cultural consultant Toluwalakin Olowofoyeku, a Nigerian writer and editor, played a crucial role in ensuring the authenticity and accuracy of the series.

Bringing the characters to life are talented voice actors Simisola Gbadamosi, Dayo Okeniyi, Femi Branch, Siji Soetan, and Weruche Opia.

 

The collaboration between Disney and Kugali extends to a diverse and skilled crew of animators, artists, and technicians who joined forces to create a groundbreaking and original series celebrating the beauty and diversity of Africa.
