Legendary Action Franchise ‘Issakaba’ Resurfaces with Star-Studded Sequel

Principal photography is currently in progress for the sequel to the revered 2001 action thriller, “Issakaba.”
Producers have pulled back the curtain on the star-studded cast for this long-awaited continuation, featuring familiar faces such as Sam Dede and Chidi Mokeme, alongside new additions including Sanni Danger, Nosa Rex, Yekini “Itele” Ibrahim, Regina Daniel, Iyabo Ojo, Mike Ogundu, Alex Osifo, Francis Onwochei, Charles Okafor, Chiwetalu Agu, Ben Olaye, Chudi Kashimawo, and Mark Angel.
Derived from the anagram “Bakassi,” “Issakaba” revolves around a vigilant community group known as the Bakassi Boys. Committed to combating crimes like armed robbery and murder, the group, led by Ebube (portrayed by Dede), strikes fear into wrongdoers.
The storyline takes a mystical turn as the Issakaba Boys face armed robbers with supernatural powers, resulting in an escalation of extraordinary abilities among the characters.
The resurgence of this iconic Nigerian action film, after 23 years, was officially announced on Instagram by Sam Dede on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024.
Describing the production as the resurrection of a longstanding legend, Dede expressed, “ISSAKABA!!! The Myth returns. A RIVER DOES NOT FLOW THROUGH A FOREST WITHOUT BRINGING DOWN TREES.”
Returning to the director’s chair is Lancelot Imasuen, the visionary behind the original production in 2001.
