Acclaimed filmmaker Lonzo Nzekwe’s latest work, the riveting crime thriller “Orah,” is set to captivate Canadian audiences as it hits theatres in Toronto on Feb. 9, 2024.
Starring Oyin Oladejo in the lead role as Orah Madukaku, the film delves into the life of a Nigerian taxi driver in Toronto entangled in a money laundering scheme to reunite with her son in Nigeria. When her plan takes an unexpected turn, Orah embarks on a relentless quest for revenge, exploring the consequences of her actions.
“Orah” marks Nzekwe’s third feature film, following the success of “Anchor Baby” (2010) and “Meet the Parents” (2016). Co-produced by Amos Adetuyi and Floyd Kane, the movie boasts a talented ensemble cast featuring Oyin Oladejo, Somkele Iyamah, Oris Erhuero, OC Ukeje, Christopher Seivright, and Tina Mba.
Shot in Ontario, Canada, and Lagos, Nigeria, “Orah” had its premiere at the 2023 Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival, where it garnered positive reviews from both critics and audiences. The film was also selected for the Industry Selects program at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival.
