Netflix continues to expand its romantic comedy offerings with “Champagne Problems,” a Christmas-themed film set in Paris and starring Minka Kelly.
Kelly, known for her role in “Euphoria” Season 2, will play a driven business executive who travels to the French capital to finalize an ownership deal for a champagne brand before the holidays. Her plans take an unexpected turn when she becomes romantically involved with the son of the wine company’s founder.
Mark Steven Johnson, whose credits include “Love in the Villa” and “Love, Guaranteed,” will write and direct the film.
“Champagne Problems” joins Netflix’s growing lineup of romantic comedies, including recent releases “Mother of the Bride” and “A Family Affair.” The streaming platform has been consistently investing in the genre, particularly around major holidays.
Kelly, who has been featured on numerous “most beautiful women in the world” lists, is expected to bring star power and charisma to the project.
While a specific release date hasn’t been announced, Netflix plans to make the film available worldwide during the Christmas season.
