Mishaal Tamer’s single “LOVE ME LOVE” has peaked at No. 16 on Nigeria’s Spotify Daily Charts with 107,000 streams.
But the rise comes amid growing frustration from African Spotify users who say the platform is pushing the song aggressively.
For more than a week, listeners, primarily in Nigeria but also across other African countries, have reported that Spotify automatically directs them to Tamer’s artist page as soon as the app opens. Many users also claim their current music or playlist is bypassed in favor of auto-plays of tracks from Tamer’s album Home Is Changing.
Spotify’s customer support has recommended standard resets and app reinstalls, adding that developers are investigating the issue. However, many say this has had little effect. Even after blocking the Saudi singer or reinstalling the app, they find themselves redirected again.
With Spotify Wrapped season approaching, users worry these persistent auto-plays could skew their year-end listening statistics, an annual feature many take seriously.
