My Father’s Shadow, the debut feature from Akinola Davies Jr., is set for a limited re-release in Nigerian cinemas in June.
The film previously screened in Nigeria in September 2025 and has since gained renewed attention following its performance at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.
At the 2026 edition, it won Best Director, Best Movie, Best Writing, Best Music/Score and Best Sound Design.

The re-release was announced by Fatherland, the production company behind the film, in an Instagram post confirming its return to cinemas.
My Father’s Shadow is set in the aftermath of the June 12, 1993 election crisis and follows two brothers navigating Lagos with their estranged father, exploring themes of memory, identity and nationhood.
The film will be distributed in partnership with FilmOne Entertainment.
