Nigeria Cinema Day will return on Saturday, September 26, with participating cinemas offering tickets at a flat rate of ₦3,000 throughout the day.

The fourth edition of the initiative is being organised by the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN) in partnership with other industry stakeholders. The flat rate will apply to participating cinemas nationwide and cover both Nigerian and international films.

The initiative is intended to give audiences access to cinema screenings at a reduced price for one day, regardless of the film or showtime selected.

Nigeria Cinema Day follows similar cinema initiatives introduced in the United States and United Kingdom in 2022. The Nigerian edition has since become an annual industry event, although the 2025 edition was postponed.

This year’s edition will also coincide with a planned Guinness World Record attempt by Fatimah Gimsay’s Black Market for the largest film screening attendance.

The attempt is scheduled to take place at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos on September 26.
