Nigerians Selected for Red Sea Series Lab 2025

The Red Sea Lab, in partnership with Film Independent, has unveiled the 16 participants selected for the third edition of its Series Lab, with Nigerian creatives Orire Nwani (producer) and Tomi Folowosele (writer) among those chosen. The duo are the only Nigerian representatives selected for the 2025 program, which supports emerging voices from Africa, the Arab world, and Asia.

The Series Lab offers a three-part hybrid residency; virtual and in-person, designed to develop participants’ original television series concepts. It provides industry mentorship, tailored masterclasses, and networking opportunities with global professionals.

Participants, working in teams, will receive one-on-one guidance from experienced U.S. mentors and showrunners. A key feature of the program is a two-week residency in Los Angeles, where they will attend the Film Independent Forum and engage with U.S. industry stakeholders.

The initiative will conclude in December 2025 at the 5th edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. There, teams will pitch their projects to an audience of international buyers, studios, networks, and producers during the Red Sea Souk.

Upon completing the program, each participant will receive a one-year Film Independent membership, with access to educational resources and exclusive screenings.

Other selected projects include “Dérift” (Saudi Arabia), “Flash” (South Korea), “Mad Bounty” and “The Midnight Gun” (Uganda), “Flyweights” (Kazakhstan), “Monkey Town” (Kenya), “Malpractice” (Egypt), and “Society” (India).
