Olamide’s EP “Ikigai Vol. 1” Breaks Opening Day Streaming Record

Nigerian hip-hop artist and label boss Olamide recently released an EP titled “Ikigai Vol. 1,” and the drop came as a surprise to fans who have been begging for a cohesive body of work from the “Jinja: hitmaker.
“Ikigai Vol. 1” earned an impressive 1.86 million streams on Spotify in its first twenty-four hours of tracking, breaking the record for the biggest opening day streams for a project in 2024 on Spotify Nigeria. It surpassed Shallipopi’s “Shakespopi” which earned 1. 59 million streams.
With this impressive streaming number, Olamide catapults to fifth place on the historic all-time list of biggest opening-day numbers for a project on Spotify Nigeria, behind:
- Davido’s Timeless (4.91M)
- Burna Boy’s “I Told Them” (2.93M)
- Asake’s “Work of Art” (2.27M)
- Wizkid’s “S2 EP” (2.08M)
The seven-track EP features collaborations with YBNL sensations Asake and Fireboy, producers-turned-singers Pheelz and Young Jonn, Lil Kesh, and SABRI.
