Fourth Wing has been officially greenlit by Prime Video for series production, marking a major step forward for the long-in-development adaptation of Rebecca Yarros’ Empyrean fantasy novels.
The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios in partnership with Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society, with both Jordan and Yarros serving as executive producers.
The announcement comes as Jordan expands his slate of projects with the streamer, including the Muhammad Ali biographical series The Greatest and the Creed spin-off Delphi.
Fourth Wing will be showrun by Meredith Averill, co-creator of Locke & Key, while Lisa Joy of Westworld is attached to direct the pilot episode.

The book series, which gained widespread popularity following its 2023 release, became a breakout success across social media, particularly on BookTok, with its subsequent novels Iron Flame and Onyx Storm also becoming bestsellers.
The story follows Violet Sorrengail, a young woman forced by her mother — a powerful military general — to enter the deadly Basgiath War College, where survival is not guaranteed.
Outlier Society originally acquired rights to the series before the publication of the first novel in May 2023 and later brought the project to Amazon under its overall deal with the studio.
With the official series order now confirmed, the adaptation moves into active production after more than two years in development.
