Prime Video Teases Season 2 of LOL: Last One Laughing Naija, Promising More Laughter and Mayhem

Amazon Prime Video has teased Season 2 of the unscripted African Original series, “LOL: Last One Laughing Naija.”

The streaming platform made the announcement via their social media pages, setting the stage for what is expected to be another uproarious battle of wits among Nigeria’s comedy elite.  “You think you had enough belly-aching laughter in the last season?” The post reads. The teaser goes on to urge the audience to anticipate more in the new season.”Get ready to laugh out loud all over again! More laughter, more fun, and even more craziness.”

In July 2023, Prime Video unveiled the debut season for its first unscripted African Original, “LOL: Last One Laughing Naija,” hosted by Nigeria’s comedy icon, Basketmouth. The six-part series launched with two episodes streaming back-to-back each week from July 14 to July 28, 2023, and was a unique unscripted comedy, following the success of the global LOL franchise hosted in various countries, including Canada, Australia, Mexico, Brazil, and South Africa.

“LOL: Last One Laughing Naija” featured 10 of Nigeria’s top comedy and entertainment stars, including Okey Bakassi, Acapella, Mr. Funny (Sabinus), KieKie, Buchi, Dat Warri Girl, Taaooma, Senator, IGoSave, and Gandoki. The competition challenged these comedians to remain poker-faced and resist laughter for six hours, with the winner receiving the opportunity to donate 40 million NGN to a charity of their choice.

Season 1 of the series which was produced by Amazon Studios in partnership with Nigeria’s LiveSpot360 Productions, entertained audiences in over 240 countries and territories, and further crowned Tony Ereku (Gandoki) and Otaghware Onodjayeke (IGoSave) as the winners of the debut season.

While the teaser for Season 2 has set fans abuzz with anticipation, specific details about the new season’s production and release date remain concealed.
