Shōgun, a Japanese hit TV series produced by FX will start filming its second season in January 2026, with new and returning faces joining lead actors Hiroyuki Sanada and Cosmo Jarvis.
The announcement was recently made at the Walt Disney Company Asia Pacific Disney+ Originals Preview in Hong Kong, revealing cast members including the writing and directing team.
Some of announced cast members include Asami Kizukawa, Masataka Kubota, Sho Kaneta, Takaaki Enoki, Fumi Nikaidô, Shinnosuke Abe, Hiroto Kanai, Yoriko Dôguchi, Tommy Bastow, Yuko Miyamoto, Eita Okuno, and Yuka Kouri.

Shōgun’s first season plot, based on the adaptation of James Clavell’s novel, follows Sanada, who plays Lord Yoshii Toranaga and his survival journey to win a century-defining war.
The season will pick up from where the first season left off but set ten years after events that unfolded, to continue the thrilling collision of Sanada and Jarvis’s worlds.
With news of Shōgun season 2 production, fans anticipate what the upcoming season will offer considering milestones particularly at the 2024 Emmy Awards, where it broke unprecedented histories.
