The Sun’s Glory, co-written by Prosper Light and Omokehinde Olateju, tells the story of Tope Willem, a young African writer born with albinism, whose love for storytelling becomes a tool to navigate prejudice and family challenges.

The film also portrays the inner world of the Willem family, showing their struggle toward acceptance and understanding.
The short film will return to the big screen on December 12 at the “Games Night with Prosper Light: Big Screen Edition” in Lagos, offering audiences another opportunity to engage with its story. Light plays Young Tope, while Damilola Ogunsi portrays the character as an adult. Casting actors with albinism in lead roles emphasizes authentic representation, addressing a history of limited or inaccurate portrayals in Nigerian media.

In parallel, Light has released the original soundtrack for A Rainbow for Christmas. The album includes two tracks, “Home For Me” and “Rainbow Shine,” performed by Congolese artist Rainbow Voice. Both tracks explore themes of belonging, resilience, and identity, reflecting the emotional core of the film and extending its narrative through music. The soundtrack became available on November 18, ahead of the film’s premiere on December 20.

Together, these projects reflect a growing focus on inclusive storytelling in Nigerian cinema. By combining film and music, Light provides multiple ways for audiences to engage with stories that foreground underrepresented experiences.

These works also illustrate how media can engage with social issues, while contributing to a broader conversation about representation and cultural visibility in African storytelling.
