Showmax has confirmed the release date for the second season of its Nigerian Original drama series, “Cheta M”. The new season will premiere on Monday, January 6, 2025, with three episodes dropping weekly.
Created by James Omokwe, known for his work on “Diiche” and “Ajoche”, the series continues the story of Adanna and Nnanna, whose love is tested by family secrets, political conflict, and personal sacrifices.
Set in the kingdoms of Mgberi and Ajaani, the show follows the complex relationships and power struggles that define the lives of its characters. Adanna (Oluchi Amajuoyi) and Nnanna (Kingsley Nwachukwu) must confront forgotten memories and deep family ties while navigating forces determined to keep them apart.
Season 1 ended on a dramatic note, with a wedding disrupted by betrayal and tragedy. Season 2 promises to build on this, exploring themes of love, loyalty, and resilience as the story unfolds.
“This season, we’re delving deeper into the lives of our characters,” said James Omokwe. “”Cheta M” is a story about culture, love, and survival, and we’ve worked hard to create something that resonates with our audience.”
The series also stars Kalu Ikeagwu as King Jideofor, Nonso Odogwu as Nze Ezeugo, and Jsmile Uhuru as the spiritual shaman Ojigijaga.
Fans can revisit the first season on Showmax before the new episodes begin airing. “Cheta M” is part of Showmax’s growing slate of African Originals, which includes recent titles like “Wura” and “Princess on a Hill”.
