Nigerian artistes generated over ₦60 billion in revenue from Spotify in 2025, according to the platform’s latest Loud & Clear report, which tracks the economics of music streaming globally.
The figure marks a significant increase, representing more than 140 percent growth over the past two years, as Nigerian music continues to expand its global reach and commercial value.
Spotify’s data also highlights the scale of engagement with Nigerian music. In 2025 alone, Nigerian artistes recorded 30.3 billion streams and 1.6 billion listening hours on the platform. They were also discovered by first-time listeners more than 1.3 billion times, a 26 percent increase compared to 2024.
Locally, Nigerian music maintained a strong hold on the charts. More than 80 percent of songs on Spotify Nigeria’s Daily Top 50 in 2025 were by Nigerian artistes, with local consumption growing by 170 percent year-on-year.
The report further shows growth across key segments of the industry. Streams of Nigerian female artistes increased by 55 percent, while independent artistes saw a 75 percent rise in local streams. Independent artistes and labels accounted for about 58 percent of total royalties earned by Nigerian acts on the platform during the year.
The figures reflect a broader shift in the Nigerian music industry, where digital streaming continues to drive revenue, expand audiences, and create new opportunities for both mainstream and emerging artistes.
