Creator Rapman confirms that the hit Netflix series has entered principal photography, promising a darker and more emotional new chapter.
Creator Andrew “Rapman” Onwubolu has confirmed that production on Season 2 of Supacell is officially underway.
Rapman shared the update via Instagram on October 7, posting a photo of the script with the caption: “Sorry to anybody who’s been waiting. Supacell Season 2 is currently in production. I PROMISE it will be worth the wait.”
The superhero drama debuted on Netflix in June 2024 and was renewed shortly after its release, following record-breaking viewership that made it one of the streamer’s most successful UK originals.
Supacell follows five South London residents who develop superpowers connected by Sickle Cell disease. The first season earned critical acclaim for its originality, visual style, and portrayal of Black British life, achieving a perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score and over 174 million global viewing hours.
Rapman has hinted that the new season will be “really, really dark,” exploring the emotional and moral fallout from Season 1’s cliffhanger. While no new cast members have been announced, the core ensemble — including Tosin Cole, Nadine Mills, Eric Kofi-Abrefa, Calvin Demba, Josh Tedeku, and Adelayo Adedayo — will return.
Further production updates are expected in the coming months.
