Grammy winner Tems adds another honor to her artistry. Her debut EP, “For Broken Ears,” released in 2020, has now achieved Gold certification issued by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) after selling 500,000 equivalent album units in the US.
“For Broken Ears” was released in 2020 to moderate success but earned positive acclaim from critics. It spawned hits like “Damages,” “Free Mind,” and “Higher.”
“Free Mind” proved to be the most successful single from the EP, peaking at number 46 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spending a record-breaking 33 weeks at number one on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay charts in 2022. The single is now certified Platinum by the RIAA.
With this Gold certification, Tems inks her name in the history books as the first female African artist to achieve this feat from the RIAA in the US.
Tems will continue her reign in R&B with the release of her debut album, “BORN IN THE WILD” on June 7, and a performance of her latest single, “Love Me Jeje,” on the late-night talk show The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon today.
