Grammy Award-winning Nigerian singer Tems has been named executive producer of the soundtrack for Paramount Pictures’ Children of Blood and Bone, marking a major career milestone.

The announcement was made by director Gina Prince-Bythewood during the film’s trailer launch in New York City. In addition to overseeing the soundtrack’s creative direction, Tems contributed three original songs to the project.

Burna Boy will serve as executive music consultant, working alongside Tems to shape the soundtrack, while Ayra Starr, who also makes her feature film acting debut, joins BNXN and Fireboy DML among the featured artistes.

Prince-Bythewood praised Tems’ work on the project, saying that although it was her first time leading a film soundtrack, she delivered an exceptional body of work.

The announcement coincided with the release of the film’s first trailer, soundtracked by Beyoncé’s “Energy” featuring Beam. The trailer teases the conflict between magic wielders and the forces determined to eradicate them.

Based on Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling novel, Children of Blood and Bone is set in the mythical West African-inspired kingdom of Orïsha. The story follows Zélie Adebola, played by Thuso Mbedu, as she embarks on a dangerous mission to restore the magic stolen from her people. She is joined by her brother Tzain (Tosin Cole) and royal siblings Amari (Amandla Stenberg) and Inan (Damson Idris) as they confront King Saran, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor.

The ensemble cast also includes Viola Davis, Cynthia Erivo, Idris Elba, Lashana Lynch, Regina King and Diaana Babnicova.

Children of Blood and Bone opens exclusively in cinemas, including IMAX and Dolby Cinema, on Jan. 15, 2027.
