The 9th AMVCA Launches in Style with Cultural Extravaganza and Runway Show
The 9th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award (AMVCA) commenced with a dazzling ‘Opening Night and Cultural Day’ event on May 18, attracting a multitude of actors, actresses, and industry professionals who embraced the occasion with style and glamour.
The three-day ceremony, that was flagged off, promises a memorable celebration of exceptional talent in the African film and television industry.
The opening night saw numerous renowned figures from the entertainment world making a grand entrance, donning their finest outfits, and showcasing their individual styles. Actors and actresses arrived on the red carpet, radiating elegance and confidence, as they set the tone for the extravagant event that lies ahead.
Following the opening night event, the AMVCA will continue with a series of activities, each designed to highlight different aspects of the industry.
On May 19, the ‘Runway Show and Nominee Gala’ will take center stage, offering a platform to celebrate the fusion of fashion, style, and design with the world of film and television. It presents an opportunity for budding designers to showcase their creativity and potentially collaborate with the brand team of Pepsi, with cash prizes and career-boosting prospects at stake.
In a report, Busola Tejumola, who is the Multichoice Executive Head of Content and West Africa Channels, said that the AMVCA organizers, through the various events, aim to recognize and reward the exceptional talents that have contributed significantly to the African entertainment landscape. By raising the bar and showcasing the best in the industry, the ceremony serves as a testament to the growth and vibrancy of African cinema and television.
The pinnacle of the AMVCA festivities will be the live award show on May 20. Broadcasting across all Africa Magic channels on DStv and GOtv, the ceremony promises an immersive experience for viewers, providing a front-row seat to witness the recognition and celebration of outstanding achievements.
To ensure a seamless and captivating evening, the AMVCA appointed South African model Zozibini Tunzi and Nigerian TV star IK Osakioduwa as hosts. Their presence and expertise are expected to add an extra layer of charm and entertainment to the proceedings, engaging the audience throughout the event.
