Filming has officially wrapped for Kijiri, the Adedimejis’ upcoming Yoruba epic The production, which lasted 62 days, brought together over 500 crew members and more than 6,000 cast members, marking one of the largest Yoruba productions in recent years.
Directed by Kayode Kasum and produced by Lafeef and Adebimpe Adedimeji, the film aims to bring a significant historical story from Yorubaland to the big screen. Adebimpe shared the news on Instagram, noting the personal and professional importance of the project.
Special effects were handled by Hakeem Effects, while Ekiti’s landscapes provided the backdrop for the film’s period-accurate sets and visual storytelling.
Confirmed cast members include Tobi Bakre, Odunlade Adekola, Uzee Usman, and the Adedimejis themselves. Details about the full cast, trailer, and synopsis are yet to be released, but the film is expected to balance historical storytelling with large-scale production values.
Adebimpe described the significance of filming in her home state: “Bringing a production of this scale to Ekiti felt almost impossible. Today we are proud we did it. What we created isn’t just a project, it is magic — magic born from grit, love, sweat, tears, prayers, and a team so powerful it carried each other when strength was almost gone.”
The Adedimejis have previously explored historical narratives in Nollywood. Their earlier project; Lisabi, won two awards at the 2025 AMVCA, reinforcing their reputation for highlighting Yoruba culture and history through film.
